Motivated young minds with the zeal to explore new frontiers and the passion to take up cutting-edge research challenges with hard work and logical thinking are welcome to join us. We are interested in developing potential translational approaches to treating neurodegenerative conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease (PD), diabetic neuropathy (DN) and hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) by focusing on the crucial role played by the glia, and by modifying their function and their interplay with neurons. We work on various models ranging from in vivo rodent models to patient-specific human iPSCs developed in our lab.
We are part of the Biophysics Department at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS). NIMHANS is a medical and academic institution in Bengaluru, India, and is the apex centre for mental health and neuroscience education and research in the country. It is an Institute of National Importance and operates autonomously under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
